Dana Terrace is back in the animated action scene, and this time her creativity is more unlimited than ever. In September of 2025, two years after leaving Disney, Terrace presented her viewers with a new series.
This series, which is being hosted by the Youtube channel Glitch, is called Knights of Guinevere. The dystopian future world the audience first sees is home to the wealthy and elite and is called “Park Planet”. It soars above the rest of the world, completely separated from the lower classes.
Underneath the shimmering gold amusement park is the dark underbelly of what remains on the ground. In the ocean lies piles of garbage, and on land, broken-down buildings with graffiti streaks line the street.
Within the palace of the sky lies a princess. Her body is metal and her intestines wires, but perhaps her soul holds more than what a machine can. Will she be saved from her place in the never ending empire of the park, or will she suffer eternally?
This dystopian thriller has been eagerly anticipated, and the pilot has been well received by Terraces fans. The show itself is nothing short of exceptional in every aspect.
Compared to other Glitch productions, Knights of Guinevere features 2-D animation rather than 3-D. This is a stark contrast to what Glitch has previously taken an interest in when it comes to independent artists.
This distinction is primarily because of Terrace’s unique 2-D animation style. Her signature style makes the show itself more recognizable, and it is what makes Terrace’s art and animation so popular.
Even though it is different from the rest of Glitch’s platform, it isn’t exactly astonishing. Terrace is highly regarded in the animation industry for having worked for Disney. She worked on multiple separate projects during her time at the company, including the Owl House and Gravity Falls.
She, alongside many others, also worked on an independent animated short film called Mirage. This experience is incredibly apparent in her story telling and animation abilities.
Her new series, Knights of Guinevere, is utterly compelling. In the pilot alone, the audience witnesses an incredible amount of character and world building.
The colors of “Park Planet” are bright, iridescent, and colorful. In comparison, the underside of the city is dark and unsaturated. The employees who have to work for “Park Planet” are also dressed in bright colors, but it creates an uncanny effect. They work in factories, pick up trash, and sell rummaged goods to one another.
When the dark, unsaturated colors of the real world are mixed with the fake colorful land of “Park Planet” the audience can truly see the socioeconomic differences taking place in this society. The employees are simply cogs in the machine that keep the elite above them.
This world building is also done through creating a timeline that presents the viewer with both the past and the present, giving context to the events taking place during the pilot episode. Amongst the presented timeline, we often see conflicting viewpoints.
These viewpoints contain the main characters, and the presented antagonist. It immediately gives us the reasoning behind each character’s actions, and the viewers are put into each person’s perspective alongside them. It serves to amplify the thriller aspect of the upcoming series.
The main characters are two younger women named Frankie and Andi who both work for the park. The other main character, who Frankie and Andi later meet, is a robot named Princess Guinevere.
Meanwhile, the antagonist of the story is the daughter of the park’s original founder. She is searching for the robot Princess, and will do anything to get her back.
The use of voice acting in addition to the story telling and graphics furthers the narrative. Every voice actor in Knights of Guinevere seems to be fully committed to the show and their characters.
Not only does each individual actor play multiple roles, they all play characters that will be present in or integral to the plot. Viewers can expect to see these voice actors in future episodes as well. The Knights of Guinevere has proven to be something worthy of investing in right off the bat. What is to be expected of the show is a true mystery. But if the future episodes are anything like the pilot, fans can expect an action-packed thriller with plenty of twists and turns.
