Every year, Sentinel High School holds a ceremony to celebrate its student-athletes who are going on to compete at the collegiate level. This year, nine seniors were honored at this ceremony. Of these nine, all but two will leave Montana to compete abroad in the United States. Sentinel will be well-represented in collegiate athletics, with athletes from Sentinel going to Oregon, North and South Dakota, Iowa, South Carolina, California, and Missouri. The signing day ceremony has become a tradition at Sentinel, and these students have done their part to make their school proud.
When recruiting college athletes, colleges look for a combination of traits that will make students successful. These nine Sentinel athletes have proven themselves to be hard-working and committed, as well as standouts in their respective sports. One such athlete who stood out from the rest was Adalynn Ascher. Adalynn was ranked number one in the state for her swimming events and in the top 1000 high school swimmers in the nation. She has committed to California State University East Bay.
On her recruiting profile, she announced “I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to swim for Cal State East Bay!! I am so grateful for the opportunity to join this amazing swim program! I want to thank my parents, grandparents, and Coach Jay for helping me along my swim journey. I can’t wait to see what these next years hold! Go Pioneers ❤️”.
Adalynn, along with the other student-athletes, impressed in her competitions and achieved a level of success beyond what most could accomplish. Becoming the highest-ranked high school swimmer in the state is an enormous achievement, but the other Spartan athletes also had noteworthy accomplishments in their high school careers.
Jace Koshatka, Lilly Bundy, Haley Sellers, Carter Taylor, Easton Reimers, Aerianna Lee, Adalyyn Ascher, Teya Lochridge, and Callie Crass are all of the recruited class of 2025.
Easton Reimers is another Spartan athlete worthy of praise. Reimers earned the baseball legacy Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for Montana for his stellar performances atop the pitching mound, following in his father’s footsteps. Reimers led the Mavericks to a state championship and won the MVP award, just like his Cameron Reimers did in 1997.
Also on the Mavericks, Carter Taylor committed to South Dakota State University for baseball. According to 406mtsports, “In his 80-game junior season, Taylor posted a .399 batting average, .502 slugging percentage, 49 RBI, and 26 stolen bases. He helped the Mavericks win the Class AA Legion state title”.
Sentinel’s class of 2025 was full of talent, but for these nine athletes, it didn’t stop at talent. The hard work they put in paid off for these nine, and they’ll look to have similar success at the collegiate level. These competitors have expressed their gratitude for being selected for collegiate athletics, but their success started much earlier.
